How fractional resurfacing works
The laser makes thousands of microscopic columns of injury in the skin, leaving healthy tissue in between. That untouched tissue is what drives fast healing, and the columns trigger collagen remodelling as they repair. Because only a fraction of the surface is treated at a time, you get resurfacing without the months of recovery that fully ablative lasers used to mean.
What it does and does not fix
It works on boxcar and rolling acne scars, general roughness, open pores and fine lines. It does not do much for deep ice pick scars, which usually need a different approach first, and it is not a pigmentation treatment. If your main complaint is melasma, a Pico laser is the better conversation and CO2 can actually make pigment worse if it is used carelessly on brown skin.
The downtime, described properly
Day one and two your face is red and feels like strong sunburn, and looks it. Day three to five you go bronzed and start to flake. By day six or seven the new skin is through and looks pink for another week, which makeup covers. Book it when you have a clear week, not the week before a wedding.
Why it matters
Acne scarring is the part nobody warns you about. The spots clear and what is left is texture that makeup sits in rather than covers, and it does not fade on its own the way the marks do. Fractional CO2 is the strongest tool for changing that texture, because it resurfaces and remodels rather than sitting on the surface. It is also the treatment people most often have done badly, on the wrong skin type or at the wrong settings, and arrive here asking us to fix. That is why it is a doctor led treatment at this clinic.

Numbing
Anaesthetic cream for forty five minutes. This is not a treatment anyone does without it.
The pass
The laser is worked across the area at settings chosen for your skin type. Twenty to forty minutes for a full face.
The week after
Cool compresses, heavy moisturiser, absolutely no sun. We check in on day three and see you at two weeks.
The strongest tool for scar texture, and the easiest one to do badly.

Patch tested before the first full session
Anything involving a laser or a needle is tested on a small area first. We would rather lose a booking than treat skin we have not tested.

You leave the consultation with the number of sessions, the spacing and the full cost in writing, before you commit to anything.

Every treatment on this site carries its price. You will not be quoted a different figure because of how you dressed for the consultation.
Fractional CO2 questions we are asked
It can be, with conservative settings and a doctor who understands post inflammatory hyperpigmentation, which is the real risk on Fitzpatrick four and five skin. It is also why we often pre treat with a brightening course and always insist on strict sun avoidance afterwards. If your skin is high risk we will recommend microneedling instead.
Three to four, eight weeks apart, for meaningful improvement. Expect a sixty to seventy percent improvement in texture rather than perfectly smooth skin, and be wary of anyone promising more.
Five to seven days where you would not want to be at work or a function. Redness, then bronzing, then flaking. Week two you look pink but presentable with makeup.
Only if the wedding is at least eight weeks away, and twelve is better. Two weeks before is the worst possible timing and we will refuse it.
